PeakCare’s
quality is first class. Produced and developed by 5-time Emmy award
winning producer Eric Bersh, VP of Production, the content is evidence-based
and designed by a combination of experts in physical therapy, wellness,
and psychiatry from both the U.S. and Australia.
Principle photography is shot using actors in various locations
around South Australia and in the heart of the film universe, Hollywood,
California. Once completed, the content goes into our video editing
system in the U.S., and is compressed into Windows Media Format.
It’s then electronically transmitted back to Australia where it
is put on our Windows Media Server and it’s ready to go live.
Once integrated into a client’s technical environment, employees
can access the software by completing a short, confidential series
of diagnostic questions regarding the problem or concerns they are
experiencing. The content is delivered via streaming video and presented
by actors that are similar to the employee in terms of age, gender,
and race. The result is that the employee sees a person like them
performing the health-related behavior and is thus more likely to
continue performing the behavior, which is designed to prevent injury
or illness. Users can view the content immediately, or add it to
a personalized package for future reference.
Secure, HIPPA compliant, historical records are kept of the choices
selected and packages created by users so that data can later be
examined to determine the impact of the program on a variety of
outcome measures. On a larger scale, this makes it possible to determine
the health status of employees at an organizational level as well
as health care savings received.
One question employees answer is how ready they are to change a
specific behavior or adopt a new way of thinking or doing something.
For example, is an employee just interested in finding out what
meditation is or is the employee ready to start meditating? Reports
can be generated from the software to indicate how people progress
along the stages of readiness, giving an indication of their learning
and intention to perform the new behavior. Combined with the
other outcome measures, this information gives companies a picture
of the health of their organization. The information can then be
used in the longer-term to show the benefit to the organization
of using the software and the streaming technology.
By contracting with PeakCare, companies receive new information
quarterly to add to their overall wellness library. This continual
feed of information not only keeps a company’s wellness program
interesting and relevant, but also entices employees to return for
the latest information. The superiority of PeakCare’s technology
was highlighted in the first quarter of 2003 when Microsoft selected
PeakCare as their number one choice to demonstrate the new Windows
Media Player 9.0 release.
